Derek Lowe pitched a complete game and designated hitter Miguel Cabrera had 5
hits and 4 RBI at Minute Maid Field as the Tombstone Huckleberries, running
on all cylinders, ripped the SSB SSB Tar Heels by a large 17 to 3
margin.
Cabrera was really in 'the zone'. He doubled scoring two baserunners in the
2nd inning, bombed a two-run dinger (his 12th of the season) in the 4th
inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 5th inning, slapped a base-hit in the
7th inning and laced a single in the 9th inning. Tombstone bats were very
productive in the 5th inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits. The Tombstone
offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
Lowe(12-5) allowed 3 runs on the game. Jason Schmidt(6-7) suffered the loss.
He allowed 4 hits and 3 walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
